Informed or Inundated?

During this extraordinary time of uncertainty it can be challenging to look away from the news even for a moment.
This is understandable. Of course we need to be aware of the latest updates so we can do our part to to keep ourselves and each other safe.
It is important to be Informed however it can be detrimental to our health and well being to allow ourselves to be Indudated by the news.
Think of the definition of Inundated - to be overwhelmed with too much information or too many things to be dealt with.
So if you are feeling overwhelmed right now ask yourself if your are being Informed or you are being Inundated?
All of this constantly checking can leave us feeling hopeless and helpless.
So how do you balance the need to be informed with the need to take manage your stress?
Set times of the day to check the news and set limits on the amount of time.
And then do something that brings you joy.
Send a happy email.
Have an actual phone conversation.
Make a healthy meal.
Share a memory.
Work on a passion project.
Clean out a closet.
Play a game.
Write a story.
You can still live your life in the midst of the chaos and uncertainty.
And remember you can still be informed without being inundated.
Take care of yourself. And please take care of each other.
