Your Resilience Routine
4/2/20
Resilience is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge or adversity.
We are in the midst of uncertain times. And our resilience is being tested like never before.
So how do we increase our ability to cope when the world around us seems to be falling apart?
Research says that one very effective way to increase our resilience is through routine.
Routines help us deal with uncertainty.
Routines help us focus on what we can control.
Routines help us feel safe because we know what to expect
Some powerful practices to incorporate into your daily Resilience Routine are:
Alone time-try to find 15 min a day to be with yourself away from your phone and other distractions- just meditate, breathe and connect with you.
Get outside- just a simple daily walk around the block can do wonders to increase your resilience. the natural world has a rhythm of its own that can ground us in the present moment.
Sleep, Exercise & Nutrition- simple basic routines of taking care of our physical health increases our emotional ability to cope.
Limit news time- set a time and a limit on the amount of information you take in daily. its okay to be informed but being inundated with bad news will drain your resilience reserves.
Connection- increase your connection- make a list of 3 people each day that you will send a simple text, email or phone call.
This might seem like this is all too much right now. It totally understandable that incorporating these things into your life might seem like putting more on your to do list. we are all overwhelmed right now. we are all grieving right now. It can all feel like a big Should. However, please know that adding at least a one or two of these practices into your daily routine will help you gain more resilience.

Routines give us power.

And our collective resilience will help to pull us through this together.
