The 5D’s of Change
To begin to change your life it can be helpful to remember the 5 D’s.
DECIDE- real change starts with a firm “no turning back, I am doing this, just try to stop me” decision. Remember- the root of decide is CIDE- to cut off or kill-you have to cut off all other possibilities. Why this works: A true decision (not a try or a hope) energizes you to move forward- you are training your brain to believe you are capable of change.
DISCONNECT- make the time each day to step away from your current life. You don’t have to go on a 2 week silent retreat- Just practicing stillness for even 5 minutes a day is powerful. Learn how to disconnect from your body, time & your environment.
Why this works: You stop receiving physical confirmation of your present reality. You stop regretting the past & worrying about the future and tap into the power of the present moment. You rewire your brain for possibility.
DREAM- When you allow yourself to dream, you will discover what you really want to bring into your life. Let go of how. Let go of judgement. Just let go and Dream.
Why this works: Our brains don’t know the difference between a “real” event and something that was imagined- dreaming helps to rewire our brains- its easier to move forward when our brains feel like they have been there before!
DETAILS- Describe your dream in extreme detail. Picture your ideal life- Who are you with? where do you live? How do you spend your days? Work on refining the details of your dream.
Why this works: Details get us into the feeling place of what we want and our emotions create a vibrational “match” for the new life we want to live. When we can feel it, we can be it.
DRESS REHEARSAL- the last step is to treat your current life as a dress rehearsal for your future reality. Figure out how you would feel if your dreams came true. Happy? Fulfilled? Proud? Generous? And then go about your days living from those emotions. How would you interact with others and react to stress? Just like a dress rehearsal for a play, this is your chance to try out what it would feel like to live your future.
Why this works: When you “act as if”, you are training your brain to believe your dream has already been realized and you will start to attract it to you.
