We are all creating our own reality.
Events occur in our lives and we Interpret the meaning of these events based on our largely subconscious patterns and beliefs about how the world works and our place in it.
There is an event and then there is our Interpretation of the event.
And our Interpretations do not always serve our best interest.
Our Interpretations can absolutely cause extreme pain and discord in our lives.
For example, let’s say your partner announces they want to spend some time each weekend by themselves.
You might Interpret this event by telling yourself that it must be that you have annoyed them and they need to get away from you. When in actuality it has nothing to do with you.
Your interpretations of events might have you playing the victim, feeling isolated or keep you from trusting your intuition.
Ultimately your interpretations can preclude you from living the highest best version of you.
In order to truly change your life, you must learn to Interrupt your Interpretations.
So how do we stop making up our own version of events? How do we Interrupt our Interpretations?
Like all steps toward change this Interruption starts with Self Awareness.
Become aware that you are making up your own version of the event.
Then challenge your interpretation by asking some powerful questions:
Is my version of this event really true?
Could I look at this another way?
Could this event have nothing to do with me?
What beliefs from my childhood could be influencing my interpretation ?
Could I choose to Interpret this event in a way that brings me more peace?
Challenging our deeply ingrained beliefs and patterns is Big Work. So be kind and gentle with yourself as you begin to learn to Interrupt your Interpretations.
And once you learn that you really create your own version of reality, you can decide to choose again. And your life will begin to change.
